A new children’s kidney centre at g.o.s.h

Great Ormond Street Hospital is the largest renal transplant centre in the UK and one of the largest in the world. The hospital cares for around a fifth of children in the UK who suffer from life-limiting kidney conditions, from premature babies to late teens.

Despite the hospital's world class reputation, the current renal unit is outdated, cramped and no longer fit for 21st century healthcare. There is not enough room for modern equipment, let alone space for children to play. On the current surgical ward, 16 patient families have to share one bathroom.

Therefore one of the hospital's most urgent needs is to build a new Children's Kidney Centre, which will match state-of-the-art facilities to the worldclass care on the kidney wards. The new bedrooms will have space for a parent to sleep by their child and a private en-suite bathroom, offering families more privacy and space at a time when their child is critically ill.

Tamara has been an ambassador for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity since 2009, as Creative Director of the charity's annual F1 Party. She continues to support in many other ways. The money raised through Tamara Gives Back will go towards this vital new Children's Kidney Centre.
